About the role
Our Payroll & Compliance practice is growing, and we need a fully remote Senior Payroll Specialist to anchor it. You will handle the hardest cases, multi-state runs, corrections, agency notices, garnishments, and mentor a small team of analysts. When a filing question does not have an obvious answer, you are the person who finds the right one and documents why.
What you’ll do
- 01 Own complex, multi-state and multi-entity payroll for the firm’s largest client accounts.
- 02 Serve as escalation point for tax-notice resolution, corrections, and agency correspondence.
- 03 Review the work of Payroll Analysts and coach on accuracy and documentation standards.
- 04 Build and maintain the payroll process playbook and internal controls.
- 05 Partner with client CPAs on year-end reconciliation and reporting.
What we’re looking for
- 01 5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state and multi-entity processing.
- 02 Deep familiarity with federal and multi-state payroll tax compliance.
- 03 CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) strongly preferred.
- 04 Experience reviewing others’ work and setting process standards.
- 05 Calm, methodical judgment under filing-deadline pressure.
